Frequently Asked Questions ...

Q: What comes first to you when writing a song, the words or the music?

A: Well, I guess everyone is different but to me, both at the same time.

Q: How long does it take for you to write a song?

A: Most of my songs are completed within an hour. The idea is already in my head when i sit down to write, so its not like I have to sit their and think up something from scratch.

Q: So, where do you get your ideas from?

A: Life in general. Things people say, roadsigns, not something you're really looking for, but may strike you as memorable. Funny situations, sad situations, love or the lack of!

Q: Do you have to force yourself to write?

A: No Never. I don't try to write it if it is not happening. If there is a deadline, I feel that this can also inspire me and it can become quite easy.

Q: You're a performer as well as a songwriter, why don't you bring out
an album as a writer/performer?

A: I've performed live in hotels, clubs and functions of all types for many years. I have been writing for around the same time, and i have always had a passion for writing. The performing on the other hand - well the passionate flame is dwindling after 20 years.

I believe there are too many artists who think that they are both writers and performers, there are artists who write and perform their own songs simply for royalties, thus the audience may have to put up with a second rate product. My heart is not in live performing but it is most definately in writing and I'll go where the passion and talent is.

Q: Do you co-write?

A: Yes i currently co-write with good friends Scott Lloyd Shelly, Lawrie Minson and Matt Scullion. There have been many other co-write's, but mainly with Scott. We work well together, as I'm good with lyrics, and he is a phenomenal musician!
